SPP program for canada have got few number of requirements but CHC is very strict about these requirements. Apart from the Education loan, IELTS bands is also a thing that should be understood before applying for the Student Visa.

For diploma program you have 5.0 as minimum .. this may be so for admissions but for SPP my knowledge is that it must be minimum of 5.5

Well due to high influx of students CHC is paying attention on IELTS scores to grant visas so having good IELTS scores makes your case more positive regarding the agents they are here to earn quick bucks if a visa is refused they are not at any loss at all and its only the student who suffers.
SPP started in 2009 and then was extended for 2010 also and now its upto Canadian govt if they want to extend it after jan 2011

I think u should correct ur IELTS requirement for Graduate Certificate programs. Because people with overall 6 and minimum 5 are also getting visa for sept 2010 intake. Some of my friends have got visa with this score and I have also seen people with 7.5 bands with 6 each have been rejected. So my conclusion is one should just fullfill minimum IELTS requirement to apply under SPP i.e 6 overall cause it does not play a vital roll if one fullfills all other requirements.

The approval and rejection is not just based on the IELTS score. And i have put the info that i have collected form the reliable sources. So i cant alter it based on personal experiences i know a guy with IELTS 7.5 scores whose application was rejected and the reason was “Not having sufficient language skills” So there is no such thumb rule to get a visa the points that we are discussing on this blog are just to enhance a students chances to get through.

Yes feel free to apply for Jan 2011 intake there will be no problem about the what so ever gap you have. Also please file your application well in advance coz as seen for sept 2010 intake the processing is taking time so sooner the better. Try to file application by Nov 2010

Its not a compulsion that you shd show 20% expenses (tustion fee & living expensese) in your accounts. The only condition is that the education loan shd be more than or equal to the 80% cost of eduction for first year. The LIC and other saving apart from shares and ULIP plans will work for you. Go ahead.

Its clearly mentioned over the website that the visa applications can be submitted by 1 Aug for sept 2010 intake. So i think an application submitted after this date wont be processed.

It’s written on the website that “It is strongly recommended that you submit your application by 01 August, 2010 for September entry and by 01 December, 2010 for January entry. Applications submitted after 20 August and 20 December will not normally be processed in time for the start of class and will likely be refused. Yes you are eligible to apply for visa but you have to check with the colleges if they will provide you offer letter as the IELTS requirement for PG course is minimum of 6.5(overall) bands and 6.0 in each module.

if you apply on 5th Aug then chances of getting Visa are really thin. For you info SPP visa processing is taking as long as 45 days in some cases and i dont this there is much time left for sept intake as most of the classes are starting from Sept 7

If you have all the documents ready then you can apply by end of the Sept at CHC but there is one thing that you should understand if you get you visa than the date of visa will start pretty early like if you get visa in oct then the will will be from oct 2010 to oct 2011 for one year course its good to apply visa in november

A band score of 5 in reading have make your case a weak case. Also getting an offer-letter dont mean that you are going to get visa form CHC. Colleges offer admission to most of the students its the CHC who refuses the visas.

Well you have to show the following documents
1 – Loan Sanction letter
2 – Loan Disbursement Letter
3 – Remittance statement
4 – Phone number of the Branch manager from where the loan is availed

If you havnt disbursed the loan then how have you paid the fees? Its the basic requirement of SPP then some part of fee shd be paid from the education loan. Also can you lemme know from which college have you availed the loan. Also CHC restricts the entry of the candidates to canada for two years if any fraudulent documents are submitted so make sure all the docs you submit are authentic.

The SPP program is in effect upto jan 2011 but there is on info whether this program will be extended or not. Yes you can apply once you have all the marksheets with you. The Gap wont be a problem as you were studying on the gap year.

Hello friends..i want to tell you that CHC,s requierment of ielts is overall 6.0 bands.Many consultants are saying that no module should be less than 5.5,its wrong.just need 6.0 overall (5.0 in each )..i got the visa yesterday under spp,my ielts score is – Listening-7.0 ,Reading – 5.0,Writing – 5.0 and speaking – 6.0….so don,t be tense about it.Admin of this site also saying to people that- there are some lucy persons who are getting visa with 5.0 in one module.i want to ask him that lucky means CHC is giving them visa without fulfilling requierment of ielts..if your ielts score is overall 6.0 bands and all other requierments are fulfilled then you will definately get visa not luckily..

And for your info i know the guys who have got visa even a shameful IELTS scores/ fake education loans / fake bank statements. Yes your fear is justified as colleges are out there to make money they can provide offer-letter to any one but the real testing comes from CHC. But you IELTS scores are just fine means you can get away with 5 in speaking if you are lucky.

I had an overall score of 8.5 and applied via SPP to George Brown College. I was called for an interview and in my case, the IELTS score didn’t made any impact with the visa officer. She looked into my IELTS and didn’t even commented about it. She was very particular as to whether I am genuine in my intentions. But with God’s grace, was granted visa just an hour later.

I agree with you the process of granting visa is not fair. Sometimes the deserving students are denied due to some unknown reasons. Moreover what canada needs is “Well Educated Labour” while we ppl are smart engineers.

You have to check this with the colleges if they want to give you offer-letter with your IELTS scores. Even the embassy IETLS requirements for SPP is minimum of 5.5 in each module for post-grad diploma.

I have availed my offer letter from Georgian College for my postgraduation.
I have got a education loan for 7.5 lakhs (will it do?) apart from that i have fd’s of around 9 lakhs.
Another query is earlier i have studied in australia and my Ielts score was 7, may i apply with that score sheet although it’s 3 years old. The application form states that IELTS it’s not mandatory.

Right now only colleges are participating in SPP. And in colleges there are not internship/scholarship/PHD programs. For such programs one need to enroll into universities. So you will have to check out with various canadian universities about this.

Some of the guys have got Visa with such an IELTS score and some have been refused so nothing much can be said about the IELTS scores. Also you can choose a course in project management and in the SOP(Statement of Purpose) you can related that how this course will be useful to you.

I have already checked that near about 37 to 39 colleges are listed in this list. Kindly pass some information regarding this. Are they renowned colleges in Canada? Or what would be the visa approval rate, if I engaged my self with this programme. Can I get work permit as well while studying.

Yes it seems that SPP is continuing although there is no info over the official website about this. All the colleges listed on the SPP colleges list are renowned and are affiliated. The visa rate under SPP was about 95% in 2009 but it dropped to 75% in 2010 as ppl have started playing tricks with CHC but authenticated cases can get visa easily. For the work permit you will be allowed to work 20 hours a week during your study only after your first semester is clear and u have spent 6 months in canada.

You can submit your application with this IELTS score under SPP also. But ideally SPP needs 6 bands overall and not less than 5.5 in each module. But i have seen that guys with 5.5 IELTS scores have also got SPP visa.

There are two things one is SPP eligibility and other is college eligibility. SPP wants an overall score of 6 in IETLS while colleges can give you admission on a score of 5.5 also but in that case you may have to pick an ESL course at College itself. So i would suggest you rewrite your IELTS exam and try yo get 6 bands.

You are good to go with all the details that you have sent. The next step that you need to follow is get the offer letter from the college. For that you have to send in your education qualification certificates to the college you are interested in along with the offer letter fees which is usually 75$

i got offer letter for may intake in lambton college.. i paid 2000$ for holding seat…. after that on march 18th deadline for me to pay 6250$(1st term)… now loan process goin on.. so wat should i do for next process? which is the deadline for filing visa for may intake?
which is good to pay tat fee? and tell me when i process for medicals?

Pay the fees by the 18th march and simultaneously go ahead with the education loan process. Also you can start collecting all the docs that are needed for submitting an application. It would be good if you try to file in your case in the month of March as lot and lot of students are applying for visas and that can hamper the processing speed. Also you can get the medicals done before applying for visa as it will save your time later on.

sir I have overall 6 band score
I have scored 7 in speaking,6 in listening,6 in writing but 5 in reading should.I just completed my BBA and want to make up 16 years of Education in order to do MBA.
Is this score is good enough to apply or should I reappear for the same ?

Well about your IELTS scores i have seen some guys getting SPP visa with such scores also. But there is always a risk. So now its upto you if you want to sit in for IELTS again that would be good and even if you think otherwise you can get a visa.

i am already MBA (marketing) and now i want to apply for Inrernational business management course. i got overall 6 band in ielts with minimum of 5.5 in both reading and writing,6.5 in listening and 6 in speaking.I am going to apply for Mohawk college in hamilton. am i eligible under spp programme?

Well although the score of 5 is less in Speaking but you can try applying wiht this score as some guys have for their visas with such ielts scores

I would recommend appearing for IELTS again as the score of 4.5 in writing is really low
